Reed Thompson, 66, of Savannah, GA formerly of Milan passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, GA.  Reed was born Thursday, April 24, 1952.  His parents were T.W. (Bill) and Mary Gray (Thompson) Thompson.  He married Appie Schaefer and she survives.

Reed worked at the Milan Furniture Factory as a teenager, and the Versailles State Park.  He later was a heavy equipment operator and then owned and operated Thompson’s Auto Parts in the 70’s.  He then was a manufacture sales representative selling hardware to furniture factories.  He then owned the Milan Video Store and later was co-owner with Gary Anderson of Thompson Hardwoods in Milan.   He also built Industrial Hardwoods in Osgood.  He enjoyed spending time with his family the most, other hobbies included open wheel racing - the Indy 500, trains and watching football.  He coached football for 17 years, starting with the peewee league, then Jr. High football and finally High School football. He was the offensive line-coach for the 1996 Milan High School team that went to the semi-state.  He always had a funny story for any occasion.

Reed is survived by wife Appie, sons: Tony (Catherine) Thompson of CA, Tommy Thompson of SC, Andy (Holly) Thompson of GA, and Michael (Kali) Thompson of MN, sister Nancy (Eric) Glaser, niece Alexa, 2 grandchildren Emerson and Willa, and a host of friends.
