Marie E. Gault

            Marie E. Gault, 98, of Milan passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 at Ripley Crossing in Milan.  Marie was born Wednesday, March 30, 1921 in Caesar Creek, Washington Township, Ripley County, the daughter of the late Robert “Cecil” and Mollie (Huntington) Delap.  She married Floyd Gault August 29, 1940 and he preceded her in death February 19, 1979.  Marie was a member of Milan United Methodist Church, very active in women’s missionary work; a former member of Rebekah Lodge; and current member of Versailles Eastern Star.  She was a former employee of Milan JayC Store; worked 25 years for the Milan post office as postal clerk.  She enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher and babysitting her nieces and nephews.

            Marie is survived by her sister Thelma Schmaltz of Milan; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd; son Dennis Lee Gault; her parents; and brothers Roy and Alvin Delap.

            A service celebrating her life will be held at 10 AM Thursday, March 12 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with Pastor LaJo Dunbar officiating.  Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery, Elrod.  Family and friends may gather to share and remember her from 6-8 PM Wednesday, March 11 also at the funeral home, with an Eastern Star service at 7:45 PM.  Memorials may be given in honor of Marie to Washington Cemetery; Milan United Methodist Church; or donor’s choice.  Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements, 707 S Main Street, Box 243, Milan, IN 47031, (812)654-2141.  You may go to www.lawscarrmoore.com to leave an online condolence message for the family.
