Thomas "Tom" Reid Obituary

            Thomas “Tom” Arthur Reid, 80, of Rising Sun, formerly of Moores Hill, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side.  Tom was born Wednesday, May 15, 1940 in Dearborn County, Indiana, the son of the late Natura Fay “Snook” (Sykes) and Thomas Edgar Reid.  He married Barbara “Peggy” Reid on September 19, 1959 and she preceded him in death on April 21, 2009.  He later married Mary Smith on November 12, 2011.  Tom was a minister for 50 plus years, preaching at Holmes Hill Church of Christ in Aurora, Moores Hill Church of Christ in Moores Hill, and Falls Mills in Virginia.  Tom was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ.  He was President of Bluefield College of Evangelism.  He enjoyed farming, “weed hopper”, he especially enjoyed his farm, and mowing grass.  He owned his own drag car and was a good gun shooter. 

            Tom is survived by his wife Mary Reid of Rising Sun; son Douglas (Carrie) Reid of Milan; daughter-in-law Lisa Reid of Gretna, Virginia; granddaughter Rachael Reid; great grandson Luke Thomas Fischer; step-son Jeffery (Susan) Chase of Bear Branch; step-daughters Jennifer (Rick) McGuire of Cincinnati, Ohio and Sandra Kay Chase of Hillsboro, Ohio; brothers John (Linda) Reid of Aurora and Robert (Mona) Reid of Florida.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Natura Fay “Snook” and Thomas, first wife Barbara “Peggy” Reid, and son Mark Reid.

            A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, 7250 Salem Ridge Road, Aurora, Indiana 47001.  Memorials may be given in honor of Tom to Person to Person Ministries, Ed Bousman, Barnabas Ministries, Christian Restoration Association (CRA), or Louisville Bible College.  Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements, Box 156, Moores Hill, IN 47032, (812) 744-3280.  Please reach out through our website at www.sibbettmoore.com to leave an online condolence message or a memory of Tom for the family.
